Compare the countries, not just the distance
Build a country-by-country plan for your outward and return journeys. Compare tolls, vignette arrangements, overnight stops and the border approach that fits your destination in Türkiye. Check requirements against the registration and weight of your vehicle, particularly for campers or vehicles towing a trailer.
Separate EU cover from Turkish cover
EU compulsory insurance rules should not be treated as confirmation that your German policy covers Türkiye. Ask your insurer for written territorial confirmation and the required international insurance evidence. Also check theft, own damage and breakdown cover separately; compulsory liability and comprehensive benefits are different protections.
Use the registration category
Choose the category that matches your registration, not the appearance of the vehicle. A converted van or motorhome may need its classification checked before quotation. Keep your registration, passport and proposed start date ready. If local Turkish cover is needed, compare the available periods and confirm eligibility before paying.
