## Confirm the crossing before travelling

This is a preparation checklist, not confirmation that a border is open to your journey. Check current arrangements with the relevant authorities for your nationality, direction of travel and vehicle. Passenger access and commercial freight access are different; an operating freight crossing does not prove that a private vehicle can enter.

## Build a document file

Gather the vehicle registration, passport, driving licence and evidence of ownership or permission to use the vehicle. Review Turkish temporary-import rules before departure. The customs allowance for your vehicle is separate from the duration of an insurance policy. Ask the authorities about your circumstances rather than relying only on a general route guide.

## Request the right insurance

Send the registration country, vehicle class, proposed entry date and period required when requesting Turkish cover. Confirm the policy territory and any exclusions before payment. If travelling onward to Europe, arrange a separate territory review; Turkish foreign-plate traffic insurance is not an automatic Europe-wide policy.
